Dear Chris,

I am not familiar enough with the prolific writings of Blessed Antonio. What limited notions I have of his ontoligism -- which makes of the Logos a medium for all knowledge, natural and supernatural, does not incline me to his thinking favorably. Brother Francis, who has high regard for the Blessed (as a holy man who was very insightful), thought that his weakest point was the philosophical foundation he used.

I spoke of my "limited knowledge" of his work. What I know comes primarily from the condemnations of that work in Denzinger's. According to something I read on Taki's Top Drawer (http://www.takimag.com/site/article/blessed_libertarian/), Cardinal Antonelli turned Pius IX against Rosmini. This could be the reason for the condemnations, written, perhaps, without any attempt at a sympathetic reading of the holy priest's work.

I have some comments on that page, relevant to Romano Amerio, the traditionalist critic who was an admirer of Rosmini.

I wish I could answer you more directly.

Hello and God Bless Bro. Andre,

It may only seem to be a digression from this topic (it is not, I believe), but what do you make then of the theology and philosophy of Bl. Antonio Rosmini-Serbati ? To me, he does seem to have a reasonable idealist conception of reality as being grounded within God without devolving into pantheism, despite his anti-ontological and ontological critics.
